Well today was definitely challenging. We were working with non-electric thermal tools, which I don't get, because its no longer a part of state boards and, hello, we have perfectly good electric tools that are less likely to burn your clients hair off. Anyways, it went well and the only person who burned hair off was, ironically, the teacher. I also tackled two wet roller sets. Word of advice, if you finish your assigned procedure early, dive into another one. Getting ahead is always a good thing, and the faster you get those procedures done and recorded, the closer you are to getting your license.
As for tips on the procedures themselves, I have a few pearls I'll share. For the wet roller set, make sure you keep the hair moist (if you're using water, gel will stay moist without any help) and also pay attention to your tension while rolling otherwise your rollers will loosen. For your thermal tools my biggest suggestion is work on your dexterity. Being able to work with awkward bulky tools while also holding your styling combs and the hair is key. When you can do that you will be able to work in a timely fashion, thus eliminating the "burning hair" risk.
Well I may add more later, but at the moment Mommy duty calls. Thanks again for reading!!!
